Preschool Programs with CWM

Children's Weekday Ministries Preschools

Our preschools are state-licensed, non-profit programs administered by a director and volunteer advisory board. We provide safe a safe and nurturing environment for children two through four years old.

We have two different facilities on different sides of Cedar Rapids to accommodate families throughout Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas. Lovely Lane Preschool is at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, 2424 42nd St NE and Trinity Lane Preschool is located at Trinity United Methodist Church, 400 3rd Ave. SW.
Our preschools provide a Christian-based learning environment for children ages 2-4 years.
We hire staff that love to interact with children. All staff members meet all of the requirements laid out by the Department of Human Services.
Each classroom has a teacher and a teacher associate.
Our curriculum is based on the Creative Curriculum early childhood education system.
Our teachers prepare children for kindergarten by teaching them the importance of following directions, social interaction, and exploratory play. Instruction is individualized to meet the needs and interests of students whenever possible.
In addition to a director who is in charge of the entire program, we also have a site-director handles all the responsibilities at Trinity Lane.

2012/2013 Preschool Schedule:

2 year olds: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ($110/month)*

3 year olds: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ($100/month)*

4 year olds:** Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (free) at Trinity Lane

Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ($180/month)* at Lovely Lane

*A sliding scale for tuition is available for families with qualifying income.

**The 4 year old classroom at Trinity Lane is part of the Voluntary Preschool program though the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Because of this, we are able to provide free preschool for this class.

Registration for the 2012/2013 Lovely Lane Preschool year begins on Monday, January 23, 2012 for current students. It opens up to the general public on February 6. You can download the registration form for Lovely Lane Preschool, fill it out, print it off, and bring it in to Mrs. Barnes' office with the $35 registration fee. Registration at Trinity Lane preschool begins on Monday, February 6 for current students and the 13th of February for the public. You can download the registration form for Trinity Lane Preschool, fill it out, print it off, and bring it in to Miss Sue's office with the $35 registration fee then. Meet our Preschool Teachers

One of the things that makes our programs so wonderful is our staff members. With a full-time director, a part-time site-director at Trinity, and 13 teachers and associates, we are ready for anything!

Ms. Julie, 2s lead teacher at Lovely Lane

Ms. Julie has taught at Lovely Lane for the past four years. She has taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Lovely Lane for the past six years. She has a degree in Graphic Design, and is currently working toward her Child Development Asosciate Credential. Ms. Julie is married and has one daughter. "Silly songs, play dough, puppets, and paint - these are a few of my favorite things!"

Ms. Dawn, 3s lead teacher at Lovely Lane

Ms. Dawn graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a BA in Elementary Education and an endorsement in early childhood education and reading. She has been teaching preschool at Lovely Lane for two years.

Ms. Sheri, 4s lead teacher at Lovely Lane

Ms. Sheri has a Master of Arts in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. This is her 5th year of teaching preschool. Ms. Sheri grew up in the Cedar Rapids area and her family still lives in the area.

Miss Tamara, 2s lead teacher at Trinity Lane

This is Ms. Tamara's 2nd year at Trinity Lane. She is originally from Pennsylvania, where she earned her BS in Secondary English Education and a BA in English. She moved to Iowa with her husband in 2005 from Ohio, where she taught English and coached Speech and Debate for 3 years. Since moving to Iowa, Ms. Tamara has enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her 2 children, as well as teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children's Chapel at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Miss Jane, 3s lead teacher at Trinity Lane

This is Miss Jane's second year at Trinity Lane, and 15th year teaching preschool children. Miss Jane was born and raised in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Kennedy High School. She is married and has two sons - one in Jackson, WY and the other in Steamboat Springs, CO. Miss Jane graduated from Iowa State with a BA in Early Childhood/Special Education and received her Master's degree from Drake University in Elementary Counseling. "I have taught at St. Patrick's, St. Paul's FOCUS, and in the Cedar Rapids and Marion School districts, but Trinity Lane is by FAR my favorite place to teach because I can share the love of Jesus and pray with my class everyday!!" :)

Miss Angie, 4s lead teacher at Trinity Lane

Ms. Angie currently teaches the 4 year old voluntary preschool program partnered with the Cedar Rapids School District at Trinity Lane Preschool. She has her Elementary Education and Special Education degree from Mount Mercy College. She taught 4 years at a private preschool, then took a break to raise her own kids and has now returned to teaching this past year and is loving it! "I have a wonderful husband and 3 active boys of my own who keep me busy!"

Trinity Lane Preschool's Scholarship Fund

Lovely Lane's largest ministry is Children's Weekday Ministries (CWM), which consists of Lovely Lane Preschool, Lovely Lane Before and After School Enrichment (BASE), Lovely Lane's Summer Program, and Trinity Lane Preschool.

Paul Wilcox, and edited and voiced by Lovely Lane's Audio-Visual Coordinator, Eric Wylie, explains the history of Trinity Lane Preschool, the importance of a preschool education and how viewers can help by contributing to the preschool's scholarship fund.

Children's Weekday Ministries Parent Handbook

The Parent Handbook for both Preschool and BASE has been moved online. Please read the handbook and then please print off the last page (the Parent Handbook Agreement) and give it to your child's teacher when they come for the home visit at the end of August.
