Children are very important at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.

The Education Committee, the Children's Council, the pastors, our Christian Educator, Parish Assistant and all church staff work hard to provide a variety of fun and engaging opportunities for children and families.

Sunday School

Lovely Lane offers Sunday School opportunities for all ages, with age-appropriate classrooms for pre-schoolers to the oldest adults. Sunday School classes are available Fall through Spring at 9:15 AM.

Time with the Children

Our worship services include and welcome everyone. Children enjoy a special time with the pastors in each worship service, where a special message is shared. During the regular Sunday School year (Fall through Spring), children are invited to a special 10:45 AM Sunday School time following the Time with Children, so that they don't have to sit still through the sermon for grown ups. ;)

Wednesday Night Live / Kids Klub

Families and children gather on Wednesday evenings during the school year for food, fellowship and singing.  Each Wednesday evening starts off with a home-cooked family meal at 5:30 and Kids Klub classes from 6:00-7:00pm.

Kids Klub is a mid-week program offered to children preschool-5th grade as an opportunity to grow in their faith and friendship with others. Children are divided into small groups for stories, crafts, games and singing. Children will sing once a month at Sunday morning

Choirs / Musical Presentations

Children's choirs learn their music during Kids Klub and Sunday Morning Sunday School gatherings. These choirs share their musical praise in occasional Sunday Worship Services.

Children's Weekday Ministries

This is a vital and busy ministry that directs the Before and After School Enrichment (B.A.S.E.) program, the Summer Program and the Lovely Lane and Trinity Lane Preschool programs.  Follow those links to learn more about each program.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Each summer for 5 evenings, children through 5th grade go on a learning adventure through a variety of craft, food, singing and playing styles all centered around an exciting theme to learn more about how much God loves us all!  On the Sunday following VBS, the children share what they learned and present their favorite new VBS songs in Sunday morning worship.

Read and Feed

Throughout the year, different age levels are invited to the church to read and share their favorite books with friends, have a snack and do other fun activities.

Lock-ins

Stay up late!  Eat!  Watch a movie!  And sleep (hopefully!) in the church ALL NIGHT!  This opportunity is offered to different age groups once each year. Watch the newsletter and announcements for more information.

Young Family Fellowship

This is a monthly gathering of families who have children birth through 5th grade. Each month, all year long, families gather for a potluck meal and an activity. This is also a time for moms and dads to share stories and consult one another about anything and everything. Some members of this group are also part of an 'unofficial' summer play group.  Learn more about Young Family Fellowship.

Summer Camp

There are many opportunities to attend a United Methodist Camp in Iowa. Our nearest camp is Pictured Rocks in Monticello, Iowa, but there are others!  Lovely Lane usually provides 'camperships' each year, available to help kids pay for camp.
